The immediate past Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection minister, Otiko Djaba has revealed she is retiring from active politics.
According to Otiko Djaba in an interview with Daily Graphic, after being involved in active politics since 2005, she thinks it is time to bow out to have more time for her three children.
The 56-year-old was appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy just two week ago but said she has declined the offer and communicated same officially to President Akufo-Addo.
“At 56 years, I want to relax and enjoy my family and life and therefore, I am not ready to take up the appointment as Ambassador to Italy,” she said.
She added that she also want to take care of her ex-husband who has had stroke for the past six years.
Well well well…
Though Otiko said she is rejecting ambassadorial because of family issues, we gather the main reason is because she is disappointed she has been demoted from being a gender minister to Ghana’s ambassador to Italy.
