National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has allegedly been arrested by the police.
The loud-mouthed politician was reportedly picked up Monday morning at the premises of Accra-based television station, UTV.
According to eye witnesses, Gyamfi was making his way to his car after participating in a discussion on UTV on when five officers believed to be from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested him.
It is not clear why he has been arrested however Sammy Gyamfi has been under investigation since December last year over alleged cybercrime offences.
Meanwhile, the NDC through their Deputy General Secretary Peter Boamah Otokonor has reacted to the arrest of its communication officer.
According to Otokonor in an interview with MyJoyOnline, the arrest of Gyamfi “is an attack on democracy and an attempt to test the patience of the opposition NDC.”
