Menaye Donkor, wife of footballer Sulley Muntari, has disclosed why she and her husband did not have a white wedding.
According to the former beauty queen, they could afford a white wedding but they just didn’t want to do it because they didn’t see its significance.
In her view, white weddings are nothing but a “party”, and once your marriage is legally registered in the court it is enough.
“I think (white wedding) is just a party and not a wedding because if you have already registered your marriage, legally you are his wife. It is just a party and we have parties every day,” she said.
She also revealed that another person who influenced her decision against having a white wedding was her father.
“We did a traditional wedding ceremony and that was what my Dad wanted which is the normal way so Sulley’s family respected that. We never did a white wedding because we all didn’t want to at that moment,” she said.
Menaye, 39 and her hubby Muntari have been married for 10 years. The couple share a son, Jamal Krasie Muntari, who was born in 2015.
