Police officers drown in river as they chase suspected criminals

Two police officers identified as Lance Corporal Akwasi Boateng and Stephen Kyeremeh have reportedly drowned in the Oda River at Korbro in the Obuasi Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

The duo, who are presumed dead, were in pursuit of some suspected criminals in the area when the canoe ferrying them capsized.

According to multiple sources, the police officers had no choice than to chase the criminals who have crossed the Oda River to the other side.

The Oda River, which serves as Ghana Water Company’s source of water for the people of Obuasi and its environs, is said to be as big as River Pra.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the officers in these hard time. I pray they may be found either dead or alive., at least that would give the families some closure.
