Ghanaian gospel singer Amy Newman has revealed she did not make money from doing music.

The 60-year-old musician disclosed this in an interview with Joy FM’s Lexis Bill on Personality Profile Show recently.

According to her, even though the revenue from music was small, that did not demotivate her as her main focus was to save lives for God through her music. “Mine is music ministry and not music industry. If it is industry, it means I get money from it, but mine is music ministry and I was doing it without getting money from it.

“The little that comes I take it but that was not my focus, my focus was singing for people to accept Christ as their personal savior because that was my call. My focus was to do album for people to get faith. So I didn’t get money out of my music ministry but God still took care of me,” she said.

And when asked by the host if she doesn’t receive royalties from her music, she revealed she has not received royalties in three years, and the ones she got earlier were just a meagre 300 cedis for a year.

“Royalties? How much did I receive? Royalties, if I should tell you that I haven’t receive royalties in two, three years, will you believe? An then even if you get it, it is about 300 cedis. The music industry is very complicated.,” she lamented.
