Mahama won 2012 elections out of sympathy, he will lose in 2020- Allotey Jacobs (Video)

Former Central Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has said he will be very surprised if former president John Mahama wins the 2020 elections.

“Looking at what it is going on, it will come as a surprise (if Mahama win the 2020 polls),” he told host Philip Osei Bonsu on the Ekosii Sen show on Adom FM.

According to the man affectionately known as Educated Fisherman, Mahama and the NDC will lose the upcoming elections because the party’s founder, former president Jerry John Rawlings is not involved in the campaign as he is having a strained relationship with the current leadership of the NDC.

But when the host drew his attention to the fact that the party won the 2012 elections without the help of Rawlings, he remarked that the 2020 polls was won out of sympathy.

“2012 election was won out of sympathy. It is a fact. John Mahama, a young a man as a vice president, who was given the mantle of leadership because of his bosses’ death. People had sympathy for him. So he won because of that,” he said.
