Around June, it was widely circulated on social media that former president John Agyekum Kufuor had tested positive for COVID-19, however the news was quickly quashed by his aides, saying it was not true.
But Kufuor himself has finally confirmed the rumours in an interview on Kumasi-based radio station Opemsuo, which is owned by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to him, he was referred to the University of Ghana Medical Center where he was treated and discharged.
Sharing the news, he said he COVID-19 has affected many prominent people all over the world so there is absolutely nothing shy about confirming he tested positive to the virus.
He said: “Sɛ wotɔn wo yareɛ a, na wonya ano aduro.” To wit, when you make known your sickness, you get the right remedy.
“I don’t feel shy making this known to public because this is a virus that has affected prominent people all over the world,” he added.
