President Nana Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of the Sekyere East District Chief Executive (DCE), Mary Marfo with immediate effect.
News of termination of appointment was confirmed by Ashanti Regional minister Simon Osei Mensah in a press statement released today.
“President Akufo-Addo, in accordance of Article 243(3)(b) of the 1992 constitution and Section 20 (3)(b) of the Local Governance Act, Act 936, has revoked the appointment of Mary Boatemaa Marfo with immediate effect.
“By copy of this letter, the out-going District Chief Executive is requested to hand over properly before leaving the office,” the statement read.
According to reports, Mary Marfo was sacked by the president because she was heard in a leaked tape campaigning for “skirt and blouse” vote — that is, asking her constituents to vote for Nana Addo but vote against the MP for the constituency, Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie.
Meanwhile, Kwame Adom-Appiah has been nominated as the new DCE for Sekyere East.
Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo is the third DCE to have been dismissed by President Akufo-Addo months after two DCEs suffered a similar fate.
